The most useful thing I've done is label the light switches in our house. I did it for the dog sitter but it really helped DH.
I have large bowls with 10 year old labels still on the bottom, leftover from elementary school parties. They have lasted through years of dishwasher use. I also label serving ware I take to potlucks so I actually get it back. We make a lot of food allergy related labels for pantry bins and for taking food places. Mine is a Brother P-touch, good use of $25.
