How much you pay for sleepaway camp

We might try Girl Scout camp sometime, but can't afford to spend an entire summer's worth of camp money on one week when we could spend that $2000 on a hotel room for the whole family for a week.

But then you are stuck with the kid, and vice versa.

If you're just going to sit in a hotel room, may as well stay home. Do you want to do something on vacation? A camp/resort experience for the family would be $1000/night for 4 of you.

$1900 a week for 4 or 7 weeks, depending on kid.

My daughters did GS camp and found it too rustic. I agreed after seeing the set up - so many uncomfortable beds squished together, dark cabin, mosquito netting, toilet might as well be an outhouse, etc.

Switch to Troop Beverly Hills

My camp lover found girl scout camp too boring. She could handle the biffies, but felt like everything was childish/immature. She still picks her nose, so she's no hoity toity.
