DC 2024

Good news is that Brianne Nadeau has a bill to reward you for snitching and then providing funds to help you relocate.

Can’t make this stuff up. 😜

I took am thinking of how we can get away as much as possible for this very reason. The sad thing is a lot of the people our feeble far left politicians represent don't have the resources to do that. They're trapped.

We've been here 30+ years and thought we were lifers. Actively planning to move.

Genuinely felt safer in Adams Morgan in the 90s, crime was more predictable and daylight and witnesses were deterrents. Thought city life would give my kids freedom and transit options but metro is not nearly as safe as it was.

Living like this is stressful. 2 friends who live in nice condo buildings, one in FH and one in NoMA have had the building front doors crowbarred open and thieves roaming around, in one case, threatening people. The one in NoMA has had her condo for years but is going to take a hit selling it.

DC is an outlier re: crime trends. I'm not sure how those invested in denying it aggressively benefit.

Another elephant in the room is that the council is propped up by a phalanx of super progressive ANC commissioners Many of whom are childless and renters and largely insulated from the chaos. And in some cases are actively cheerleading these insane policies:

This.

And in quite a short time!

Wake up. Home prices in DC proper are DOWN. And if you back out the multimillion dollar international level properties the numbers are really bad other than a few “safe” neighborhoods.

NP but really? Every flip in my neighborhood is going for prices that are way too high to live in my neighborhood. But they are taking longer to sell.

Look, it could be because actual selling prices are dropping, but DC's prices could easily be due to the mix of properties selling in December. In other words, if there are more studio and 1BR condos in the mix vs. SFHs, the median price will drop even though perhaps each of those properties sold for "more" than they theoretically may have received a year ago.

You need to see price changes by property type.

Nope. Wake up people. The socialists that are running DC have put your lives AND your finances at risk.

The numbers are not way DOWN. What neighborhoods are you referring to? I am in NE and my numbers are way UP.

Amen. I noticed something else unusual while visiting Texas: people there seem to do this strange thing where they actually PAY for their goods BEFORE leaving the store. Imagine that! It's like they're actually enforcing the law over there or something.

Texas is good great that women die waiting for abortions. No thanks.

Bowser INHERITED the Marion Barry political machine, and she revived it.

Same people. Same corruption as all the awful Barry years.

Only this time, DC has a woke city counsel doing everything it can to sabotage the already-terrible police department.

Those people are gone. Bowser inherited Fenty's political machine. You have no idea what you are talking about.

And looking at Urban Turf median 2023 SFH prices are up 56% in Wellesley Heights, 35% in AU Park/Palisades/20016 zip code, 20%+ in CC DC and 20015 zip code, etc.

Yes, the safest parts of town where most kids attend private, where most are insulated from the craziness , are seeing price increases. This is logical. The areas where normal people live are getting hammered.

Considering I live here...actually, most kids don't attend private. It's probably 65% public/charter and 35% private. I have one kid that went 100% through DCPS and another about to graduate from Jackson-Reed.

DC has been a great place to live, and we will stay, but we're actively pushing for things to change. With only a few exceptions, the progressive ANCs are ridiculous. They want to give everyone vouchers, get rid of the police, applaud failing schools, and build more and more ugly, dense housing to essentially ruin the remaining nice neighborhoods in the city, even as so many are fleeing. They have no concept of investment or law and order. Anyway, my suggestion is to fight for your city. It has been a wonderful place to live and raise my children, and it can be that again.
