Why would a man get married in 2023?

Ask yourself why this might be.

But it’s the opposite for women.

Perhaps men still think that way. I don’t think women do. Women today don’t think you need marriage and/or a partner to have children.

Why would any woman or man get married? Answer - Not to live in sin

What century are you writing from? It’s 2023.

Ridiculous

PP is right. Men get married because they want access to sex without having to put in any effort. They also want someone to help with household things and to care for their kids. Men who are widowed often remarry right away because they can’t handle being alone.

+1. My DH thinks he's getting an amazing deal and I don't even work!

+1 MIL calls this "a nurse or a purse"

Otherwise, she says women would be stupid to get married - but in her case, she worked very part time, and had her husband's pension and unusually generous benefits, and without that, she would have had nothing (probably meaning she would have had to remarry, in her case). In her case, if she were to have remarried, she would have lost most of her benefits, that were/are irreplaceable. She has an exceptional set up, that most women who have worked their whole life 9-5 plus do not have.

+2 Same. I think it is the men who marry lazy wives that kick themselves for having having done so.

Why is it such a good deal for men? Eat the same cereal every day? No way! I’ll take the variety pack.

You wish you could score the variety pack, loser!

Ideally, marriage provides a best friend, sexual partner and co parent. Someone to share your joys and sorrows with on life's journey.

Well the women who think that are choosing those outcomes for themselves in the long term. Just avoid them and go for the women who do want to get married, who come from happy families themselves and therefore want one of their own.

I know, hard to do with so many miserable people who hated their home life reproducing and inflicting their misery throughout the generations, but there are still positive family oriented people out there.

If that was actually true they wouldn't always ask for child support. But they do

Definitely not a good deal for women. Men actually live longer when married. I was wishing for an early death for one of us, but then thankfully, got around to divorcing when the kids were grown.

Living in sin was fantastic!

Who cares, if it's a life of misery?

Also, I saw a brand-new study which showed that gap in life expectancy narrowing significantly.

Last, I tell every young man I know, "Do not get married, and if you're dumb enough to get married, DO NOT have children." Much better to have a series of girlfriends, and trade them in every couple of years.

Men need to start being more like women, and only take care of themselves.

I wish someone had told me this 10 years ago.
