Favorite Duets: harmony, possibly couples

I love Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty doing "Stop Dragging My Heart Around." Their voices are so well matched for each other.

I love Stevie Nicks and Kenny Loggins, Whenever I Call You Friend

Yes, I came to say that, too!

Cosigning both Stevie Nicks duets and Dolly & Kenny singing Islands in the Stream. Plus anything by the Everly Brothers or Wilson Phillips.

One I haven't seen mentioned, not what I think of for harmonies, but a great duet: Don't Go Breaking My Heart by Elton & Kiki Dee

But really, can’t this be any song with solid lyrics that they can figure out the harmonics to? Like that little mermaid part of your world clip where the girl goes up on the kitchen counter that pops up on everyone’s shorts for example.

The one thing with this is that you have to have a key shift because very few guys have the range for the song in the original key. That said, there are several good male/female versions of this song on Youtube, so they can search for male/female covers and find one in a key that works for them.

They should check out the Youtube page of Matt and Savanna Shaw. This is a father-daughter combo that does a lot of covers and they are both fantastic singers. They have a lot of duets that are not love-duets but are good for male/female combos.

From classic musicals:
"It Takes Two" - Into the Woods
"Suddenly Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors
"Soon It's Gonna Rain" or "They Were You" from The Fantasticks
"A Whole New World" from Aladdin
"Somewhere Out There" from An American Tail (but listen to the version with James Ingram and Linda Ronstadt)
"The Tennis Song" from City of Angels

If they want something a little more modern,
"Only Us" from Dear Evan Hanson is designed for their age and from a more recent musical.
Also "In a Crowd of Thousands" from Anastasia

Check out the songs from the show Nashville. There were tons of great duets- some by siblings, some by friends, and some by couples. Really great music.
