Enrolling in Medicare, drawing down Social Security

Anonymous
1) You are right to start the learning process early. Medicare is like a new language. My DH and I are a few years in and finally feel like we understand the system.
2) You can make an appointment with social security and they will help you with the calculations of when you take Medicare. Even if you calculate on your own, it’s a good way to verify.
3) Realize, as you choose the best plan for you, you are making a big guess on how long you will live, how much medical coverage you will need, which is an impossible task unless you have a known disease.
4)My DH and I watched a number of YouTube videos from Boomer Benefits explaining THE PROCESS. Keep watching until you understand.

Thanks for the suggestion on Boomer Benefits - had no idea about these videos. Also about speaking with Social Security.

No known diseases here - while my parents did pass in their mid '80s, neither family had much, if any, history of cancers, etc. Limited cardiac problems on both sides, but I still don't appear to be a candidate for them based on bloodwork, weight, etc. Just had a great check up, yet you can never know.
