Lacrosse - What Physical Skills/Attributes Are Emphasized?

Lots and lots of politics in lacrosse too. The politics of children's sports. Sigh.

Lots and lots of politics in lacrosse too. The politics of children's sports. Sigh.


I guess I haven't been a parent long enough, or am just naive. But what is meant by "politics" in this context?

My son is built like a basketball player - very tall and thin. Will this be a disadvantage in lacrosse?

Being able to whack away at another human being with a metal pole, with no regard for his well-being, is paramount. And one wonders where this LAX culture comes from.

For attack - speed, speed, speed. Size matters little.

You'll see the bigger (and usually slower) boys playing defense. Size helps, but smarts (being able to read the field and the attacker) is much more important.

Hand/eye coordination is essential.
