Good place to retire for Asian Americans

Isn’t it bad to not have social interactions as you age? And I imagine it would be 100x worse after your spouse passes if you do not have children nearby.

I thought Dallas was humid in the summers. They have those thunderstorms in the afternoon like we do in the DC area.

Nope. Summer of 2022 we didn’t have rain for like 100 days.

Don’t start with the emotional blackmail.

How about SoCal a bit inland? Like Chino Hills or somewhere?

How about Houston, Texas. Decent Asian population, not too expansive and warm.

Google H-Mart/Lotte locations and go from there.

If you can tolerate cold winters, Ann Arbor Michigan is great. Just choose one of the suburban style neighborhoods to avoid the campus crush.

Also depending on your age for retirement, the university hospital has an excellent geriatric practice / center .

Cary/Morrisville NC might tick off a lot of your boxes. Lots of Asians, esp. Indians (Jay Chaudhuri is our state senator). There's not a lot of crime. There are cute town centers with lots of amenities, but it gets country real quick (with real farms) outside of those centers. There are even parts of Raleigh that are farmland (on the outskirts, anyway).

Blue states only

Red will not be safe

Some of the blue states have areas riddled with crime

But you can find safe cities in blue states.

Red state politics affect the whole state.

Cut and pasted this from a Forbes article published earlier this year. Nine of the fifteen are in red states.

Cary, NC sounds interesting. I'm also interested in the PNW.

Philly is much lower CoL and they have terrific museums, restaurants and parks. It is a great old city.

Personally, I may just suck it up and rent in Southern California.

Cary and Richmond were very Southern twenty years ago. Very transient now.

Have you been here since the pandemic?

There isn’t anything that you will be happy with in any low-COL area.
