I don’t know about OP, but my kid’s school did not allow use of cell phones during school hours.

We used to be able to get a pass to the guidance office where we could call, but it's totally fine for the parent to call about a payment issue.

Of course you can call -- it's about money. This is not some kind of helicopter situation.
