Invest in good air filters and change your air filters often so you wont be blowing around dust.

We had it done for $150 (?) recently. Our ducts were dusty and gross looking now they are clean. We had a renovation done and live in an old house. I won’t do it any time again and did it for aesthetics not health.

I've heard it's helpful after you have construction - especially sanding the floors. I'd do it then but not after that.

For us, it was especially worthwhile on two occasions
1. When we first moved into our house. Previous owners always had a lot of pets. Our cat was yowling so much when we first arrived. Within a week of moving in, we had the vents cleaned. So much fur and gunk was removed, it was gross. Cat stopped yowling.
2. After major renovation, since dust and grit was everywhere
