Is a minivan the right choice for this family? 3 kids, 3 adults, 2 dogs...

I'd go with the Suburban. My friend has 3 kids and a large dog and they upgraded from an Odyssey to a Suburban. We have a Sienna and 1 kid and 1 large dog and sometimes we wonder how we'll fit #2 in there someday when we pack up for a big trip. LOL.

The GMC might be a real option.

I'd also do an online search of minivans too and see how big the different cargo areas area. I think you are going to have to put gear on top, can't have it falling on the dogs. If you did the 2 captain's chairs and a bench, could the dogs like in between the captain's chairs and in front on the bench? Then the "stuff" could in part go in the back? I'd put a child in each chair and a child and AP in the bench. There would be plenty of room in front of the child's feet for a dog.

osyssey driver here , 3 kids 2 parents. the dogs would be suffocating. i vote on a gas guzzler.
