Just to add. This is only meant to be helpful not badgering like the above odd 2E poster. The four hours per week is usually only accomplished with a private tutor and not by school staff. Unless it is Siena or lab school, the school staff often do not have sufficient training or experience in OG. As for the 2E, just ignore that poster. That is not for them to question. These children are not easy to support, just do your best. There are good people on this board who will want to try to help you. |
To this poster: please quit badgering this parent. Take your toxic, defensive energy about 2E elsewhere. |
OP here. Thank you! She has a private tutor already, so we are looking to increase time with that person. Currently she has one hour per week with that tutor, who meets with her at school, but after school. We’d be looking to have tutoring happen during the day. She’s also in speech therapy, and that happens at school after school as well. |
NP. I don't think this comment was delivered in the nicest way but I really don't think it was horrible. I personally wouldn't recommend someone share a report when a child is applying to private if they are not struggling academically to avoid discrimination it's really reasonable to share at least some of the info when a child is already enrolled. I can't think of a mainstream private that does not have a learning specialist to help kids who are diagnosed while they are students. I personally know bright kids at Sidwell and Landon with LDs who are doing fine with this support. |
OP here. We are currently enrolled and have some tutoring in place already. We shared the report so that we can help advocate for accommodations and additional tutoring. So this is not an admissions situation. |
