Mann to Private // Private to Mann

What’s the difference ? “The Horace Mann School” feels more private than DCPS.

We're perfectly happy so far at our DCPS but I have heard that the real difference between public and private in the later elementary school years is the focus on writing, which you don't get to the same degree in public. If the difference was in math, I would know how to supplement, but are there ways to supplement the writing?

What is a JKLM?

When did the M become M&M? Murch is good but it’s not quite JKLM tier.

Did exactly what you are considering, our child went to Mann from pre-K through 5th and then private for middle school. We had a fantastic experience at Mann, the school & community were just great and the education was too. No regrets there. We went private for middle school and it was very competitive, didn’t get into the schools we wanted. I noticed a significant number of students leave Mann in 4th and 5th to secure spots in private, and we wish we did that. So maybe something to consider.

Or as someone already mentioned, you could keep your oldest in private and others at Mann and then slide them over for middle school years. Play the sibling card and you’re at a major advantage.
Good luck!
