Do you (still) tip on to-go pizza?

Anonymous
I have never tipped on a to-go pizza. If it's delivered to me, I tip the delivery person.

Maybe a $1 or 2 for pickup, but pizza has gotten so expensive I do find it annoying to add on more money.

Nope, no tips on any take out.

Honestly I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not counting my pennies and I think the people who are working these places are generally working hard and probably getting squeezed worse than me so I don’t mind slipping them a couple bucks.

This is how I generally feel about tipping. I hate the tipping culture in the US and wish we had a more straightforward system, but we don’t, so I tip.

It's not going to the worker unles you're handing hm a $10 bill.

Any tip you apply at the POS display is going to the owner and not the worker.

Source? Pretty sure that would be illegal in DC

Wow these answers surprise me. We do roughly 20 percent at our local pizza place. I want them to stay in business.

Hello Ebenezer! Let them eat stale bread.

I agree! The negative tone of so many of the responses shows how angry and mean some people have become posts pandemic. It used to be embarrassing to admit how cheap one is...I guess not any longer.

Well, it's more than that. They shape the dough, add the toppings, and cook it. But I agree, you don't need to tip on pick-up.

Actually, at the nice pizza / restaurant place we go to, the young 20-ish year old cashier in the to-go booth said she keeps all the tips. $0 to the cooks.

True.

I don’t tip on pick up orders. Working at Papa John’s was never meant to be a lifelong career. If they want more money, they can do what the rest of us do - find another job.
