I actually wouldnt mind being the hangout house but DC has always attended private and as such, the kids live all over the place and not walkable at all. Hangout house = I'm not driving all over this damn city!

Agree. If your house has become the hangout house it is because the kids have more freedom. No parent should really *wish* to be the hangout house. Even if there is nothing much nefarious going on - you, as a parent, can't make hangout house happen. It just happens. But don't overlook the why.
