Best charter school in dc ?

Just getting out front before someone suggests Latin—my Hispanic DD found the place racist and classist and quite horrible. Others have liked it. But I’ve found the place weird, culty, and unpleasant.

Come on, the charter with the most cache, and the most difficult to get into, is Latin.

Whether the scores are the highest is another matter, but for a certain subset of parents, having a school that is basically a free private, with a well-rounded classical education (which you cannot find even at local privates) is incredibly appealing.

My son loves Latin but I agree, it's a bit culty.

Anyone who thinks Latin resembles a private school in any way has clearly never attended a private school.

Is Latin culty at both campuses? It seems the two campuses have different cultures right now.

if OP is thinking about shifting her kids from IT to YY then they aren't old enough for Latin, so we can leave that out of the discussion.

Free private? That's an overstatement. It's popular come lottery time because the middle school options in the city are so dire. Being the better of bottom of barrel options does not automatically give one cache and certainly does not make it on par with DC private schools.
