Rogaine routine for women

I've been using the 5% generic minoxidil from Target since August (after my hairdressser suggested it - I seem to have lost a lot of hair after having Covid in early 2023). I'm almost 60 and my hair has been thinning since menopause, plus my parents both were balding.

Anyway, it works! Not only do I have more hair, it seems to have stopped my shedding. I've been able to grow my hair to my shoulders for the first time in years. It depends on what is going on as far as when I use it - sometimes in the morning, sometimes before bed. I've had no unwanted side effects.

NP I use the Kirkland liquid type (not foam). The first 4-5 months I used it every. Now, I'm at a point that I feel comfortable 4-7 times a week. I try to do it every night but I don't feel like I have to be so diligent. Been using it about 2 years.

I have been using it for about 2 years, and will skip a day or two usually.

So I have been using the foam and zero results on my head. Been 5 months. I was doing it twice a day and more than the recommended amount and I got lots of hair around my eyes. Terrible. So I switched to once a day. Nothing. I have thinking everywhere. Literally half my once thick mane. My doc won’t give me an oral drug, because of higher breast cancer risk.

Why are potential side effects chest pain and weight gain?

I've been using the 2% liquid 2x/day for about 18 months. My hair is thicker and stable. Very pleased. I put on 1 mL as I'm getting dressed in the morning and 1 mL right after work before dinner. I haven't had any side effects. I just use the dropper and sort of run it through my hair into my scalp. I don't spend a lot of time parting my hair and putting drops in. Just kind of a line as I gently squeeze the dropper. It's been wonderful not to have my hair fall out all day long anymore

Originally minoxidil was used to treat high blood pressure with a side effect of hair growth.

My Dr. won't recommend it for me in oral for for that reason (i have other health issues) though topical is okay as long as I monitor my blood pressure
