I regularly wiped my dog’s paws, when I had them. Helped with their allergies and mine. I don’t know many people that wipe down their shoes after being outside. Plus shoes often have lots of little nooks and crannies in the treads that can carry crap inside.

When we mived to a house with all hardwoods my DH started wearing Birkenstocks. Funny I’ve been telling him how great they were for years, but now he loves, (man) explaining how they work - how they mold to his feet, even though they are not attractive shoes and are expensive.

He also has a pair of crocs that he wears outside to grill or take the dog out.
