| Anyone who complains about traffic and drives a car is a hypocrite. You are the traffic. |
Yes, what fools for not taking our extensive network of public transportation. Like our commuter rail, that runs 3-4 times a day each way on 2 lines with the last run starting at 8am or so. When we have real public transit, maybe I’ll consider not driving. You want people biking in from Jefferson County? Get real. |
| Are you asking a question or making a statement op? West VA is not a hot market. There is extreme poverty, addiction, lack of medical care, lots of issues making it a less than ideal place to live. |
| WV will never see great appreciation because there is still so much land to build on. |
| This thread is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh, OP. |
Well...that explains a lot. |
I am an engineer who works for the Department of Defense and I can assure you that we hire MANY more engineers from Virginia Tech, UVA, and George Mason than WVU. |
no wonder our energy grid and infrastructure are woefully inadequate. and please request that your alma mater provide you with some basic spelling and grammar lessons as it has failed you. |
| I wouldn't say it's a hot market. We bought a vacation place not far from Berkeley Springs 2 years ago. It's about a two hours drive from DC. I like it there for weekends, but would never ever want to live there full time. The schools are atrocious, the health care is not good, but the views and the hiking are great. |
I’m not “bragging” about anything, a$$wipe, and I never said that the entire state of West Virginia was “great” now or was ever going to be. All I’m saying is that Jefferson County, which is closer to DC than any county in West Virginia, is just fine. By the way, the one time that a close family member really needed to see a top notch specialist at a world class facility they didn’t go anywhere in the DMV - they went to John’s Hopkins. |
Brilliant repartee. Ahh, West Virginia, don’t ever change! |
Just visited shepherdstown and I would totally live there. Trying to convince family. Shepherd University looks nice too. Not particularly competitive, but it seems like a cosy school in a cute town with a reasonable price tag. |
That’s not WV specific. It’s used across the board when dealing with douchebags. |
We have a vacation home in Canaan Valley, which is a little under three hours from our home in Northern VA. I could realistically see living there for months at a time once our kids are out of school. I don't think I could do the public schools there. Canaan has a very unique climate, and is a great place for climate change refugees. |
| If only WVA would stop cutting the tops off its mountains. The scenery is so very gorgeous, like the New River and Beckley. But they're letting the out-of-state corporations ruin it for a handful of jobs operating the heavy machinery. Flying over WVA is really depressing. |
