I've got only 1 teenage kid playing soccer. All the coaches and parents with older kids have told me that competition to win shouldn't be pushed onto kids until high school.
At the early ages below 10, simply have your kid love playing. 10 - 14, work on development and not worry about wins or losses. Then in high school, your kid will want to compete and win where losing sucks or your kid will choose another activity he cares more about. |
| OP, was your daughter the one who asked to play travel soccer or is it something you signed them up for because the older siblings do it? Just because a kid is good at something doesn't mean they love it. |

You’re not wrong, but there are ways to keep your kid interested in playing. Sucking the fun out of it at age 8 and not letting the coaches coach would generally be considered a bad idea. |
