Delusional parent upset DD wasn’t chosen. Dime a dozen. Thinks nobody else is deserving. Would 100% love to know who you think isn’t deserving.
Oh, and I was told that it is the coaches who decide. What? You think they all get together and talk about who’s parents take them out to dinner or give gifts, therefore they DD gets nominated? Coo Coo. |
Imagine my surprise that it’s an upset Loudoun parent… |
The bold above is exactly how it works. |
Because ir's mostly favoritism versus deserved. |
Well, like I said, I don't think anybody would remotely disagree with 2 of the 3 players selected from our team. It's that the 3rd player that leaves me scratching my head. There are at least 4 and maybe even 5 players on our team who are more deserving of that kind of recognition. But maybe it really is just individual team coaches nominating their "favorite" players. Although our coach definitely doesn't *appear* to have any favorites on the team and seems to treat everybody equally so I don't really know what to think. |
You mean in life. You're not just describing youth sports here. |
This is posted. |
Whatever you want to believe, believe. I don’t, but that is my experience, not yours. And even if I believed it, I would never try to persuade my kids that is true. It is an excuse for both kids and adults to stop trying. And that, more than whatever machinations you see, will guarantee failure. Striving for excellence is its own reward. And you may think that is a cliche, but there is no cliche more tired today than people claiming that a system is rigged. Now get off the boards and repay your student loans. |
| Sad to see adults complaining about who is deserving and who is not for league awards. Can't we just be happy for the kids that were selected and celebrate them. Are there other kids who are "more deserving"? Maybe, but no reason to take away from the accomplishment of the kids that were recognized. This same behavior around recognition extends to work environments later on in life and is so sad. And no, I am not connected in any way to any of the kids selected. Worse, if those complaining are having this same conversation with the kids not selected, that is horrible role model behavior. It creates infighting, etc. as the kids will follow the behavior of their parents. Just be happy for other's success when it happens. Keep working hard and yours will come too (in soccer or in life). |

So celebrate kids who get “selected” for reasons such as their parent being a coach/administrator within the club, while much better players don’t get recognized? For Boys U19 last year, clearly the most difficult player to deal with in the Mid-Atlantic was Isaiah Chisholm of Beach FC. He scored 4 goals in a half in a 5-2 game. He’s now logging minutes for the #2 team in the country (Kentucky) and spent time with the USYNT. I have no relation to him or Beach, but for him to be nowhere on that list, completely invalidates the list. Don’t put together a list, unless there is some level of objectivity to it. |
| The ecnl list is picked by their own coach. The influence comes from all angles, but reality generally wins out in the end. There are kids on rosters of the top college teams that have no business being there from a soccer perspective. They are good students, good kids and have parents that worked it out for them. Do these kids end up being surprised when they never play because the parent never told them the deal? Or do they know this going in and are fine with it? Never touching the field is tough on a kid no matter how great the school is...but mom and dad get some good pics in the uniform from media day and blast it all over social media. |
So true. |
Just look at the incoming Georgetown roster |
