A lot of the posters are misinformed/ using bias to judge a program.
DC's EBT cards are not just for "needy" families; please stop clutching your pearls if you received one. The law states that every child attending a Title I school has community approval for free meals and meal supplement assistance. The benefit is associated with your child; not your family. If you choose not to use your child's benefit, it access to the funds do not remain on the card forever. There is an expiration. The rules are not the same for these cards as they are for SNAP recipients. You will not "go to jail" if you use your child's benefit, or choose to donate the food you've purchased with the benefit. |
