OMG - loft bed was a huge regret for us.

Loved the idea and look of it, but for all the reasons you've identified, a hard pass.

We also wanted to conserve space and got this bed. It has a lot of storage and I can confirm is not a pain to make the bed. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/slaekt-bed-frame-w-storage-slatted-bedbase-white-s99291991/

I have this one and it is so high. Now that it's wearing out I'm thinking of finding similar, but with only one level of storage. Or open underneath... because the drawers collected so much dust underneath the bed!

We have tried loft beds (and regular bunk beds) and end up regretting it each time. Making the bed is super annoying, and it never ends up saving space in the way we might have thought. I would only do it if absolutely unavoidable due to very small space. There are some nice beds with large storage drawers etc underneath (the beds sit a bit higher than normal)- I think they look nice.

Would a buddy be easier than regular sheets?
