Health apartment and random food stalls

If annyone is ok with this then great! Let’s abolish the fda and all food sanitation government departments. There’s no need for the health department, or anyone else with oversight on food preparation

Whatever you say Karen!

There are many of these fruit stands in Arlandria now, on Mount Vernon Avenue.

I honestly am fine with deregulating restaurants and especially food trucks. If you don’t trust a place, don’t eat there.

I have had food poisoning a few times, always from high end restaurants.

The stall owners actually do care about their businesses. If the fruit/food looks delicious, as others say, it’s likely fresher than you’d find in a market. Fresh and inexpensive means fast turnover.

I think owners initially set up food stalls to feed their own communities. It apparently became appealing to the masses. How do you know they’re not washing their hands? You don’t need a sink to do so. Are they wearing gloves? Is someone else handling the cash exchange? How is it any different than going to small local farm stands? Do you ask framers about arsenic in their soil? Because it can take more than a decade for soil to turnover. And that big organic sign means nothing. Ya know, we Americans don’t hold the gold standard for food preparation and quality. We have 5 senses for a reason. Most of the time, it saves us from food borne illness.

It is from a local ethnic supermarket.

You’re a moron. When you had food poisoning, were you thinking to yourself that you wished it happened more frequently?

These are the rules and I know the fruit sellers don’t play by these.

https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/HHS/LandR/FoodServiceFacility.html

Any person planning to distribute, prepare, handle, or dispense food for public consumption with or without charge must apply for a Food Service Facility License.

A license must be obtained prior to opening a business. Licenses expire on January 31st and must be renewed each year. A Use and Occupancy Permit must be obtained through the Department of Permitting Services at 240-777-6200. Many businesses also are required to have a Trader’s License. To determine if you need a Trader’s License, contact the Montgomery County Circuit Court, Business Licenses Office at 240-777-9460.
******

"Montgomery County Code 15-8(b)(2) states a licensee must not operate a food service facility unless the facility is under the immediate control of a Certified Food Service Manager."

How do I become a Certified Food Service Manager?
Anyone may be certified as an Food Service Manager. The applicant must successfully complete an approved Food Service Manager's course, and file an application with Licensure and Regulatory Services to receive a Certified Food Service Manager’s photo identification card. The course may be taken on-line or in a classroom. The exam must be taken at a proctored location. Online test certificates will not be accepted. The card is valid for three years from the initial completion date of the approved course.
The applicant must come to the Department of Health and Human Services, Licensure and Regulatory Services office (2425 Reedie Drive, 9th floor, Wheaton, MD) to obtain a photo identification card. Office hours for photo identification cards are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 240-777-3986 for more information.

These fruit sellers are on every corner in every strip mall parking lot. It can't be sanitary to make food without hand washing or running water even! I think you can call the health department for your county and report it. They should come out and access the situation. Also lot sure how these are legal at all without permit.

If you don’t want it, don’t buy it.

To me this is like complaining about nearly how every driver exceeds the speed limit by at least a few mph. While it may be illegal, you must realistically realize government prioritizes allocation of enforcement resources (because they aren’t free).

I see them often in the parking lot of the Korean Korner/Unique at the Randolph/Viers Mill intersection.

Prevalent in Unique parking lot in Merrifield although never a food truck but bagged food sold out of someone’s trunk or van.

They always park at the far end of the lot away from the stores and closer to Jackson MS.

To me it’s about food safety, and health. If you don’t think this needs to be monitored, then I guess, health and sanitation at food factories, restaurants, and other food establishments should not be enforced.

Why bother with any food safety inspections if it’s a just little bit illegal. Just like speeding is?
