lox is very high in sodium. And cream cheese has more fat that most bacon. Bacon has 3.5 g of fat per slice. Cream cheese has 30 g of fat per 3 oz serving. So you would need to eat 9 slices of bacon to get the same fat as 3 oz of cream cheese. And frankly, many kids put more than 3 oz of cream cheese on bagels, so it could be worse. Also, one oz of lox has more sodium than 4 slices of bacon.

If you are going to say that bacon is unhealthy, then cream cheese and lox is worse.

I have a 16 year old and a 14 year old. They want to make their own breakfast when they wake up. They don’t want mom fiddling around in the kitchen with a “breakfast buffet”. Cringe. And what happens if not all the teens are hungry for breakfast at the same moment?

Get bagels, cream cheese, eggs, frozen sausage patties, and some bananas. Show them where the stuff is before they go out the night before. Let them know they can help themselves when they get up.

Oh my God, calm down Cassandra. Two strips of bacon have less than 180 calories, and after you cook a ton of fat is already rendered out. At least it has protein, versus sugar laden bombs devoid of anything useful like pancakes, waffles, sugary cereals, etc. If it is something like Canadian bacon, even better. Awesome source of protein with low calories.

I have 4 brothers. They ate endlessly when they ere teens because they were athletes. Depends on the boys OP. Surprised no one mentioned a breakfast casserole. We used to make them for different sport teams. You can assemble the night before, cook in the morning and leave the boys alone. Have a side fruit salad made the night before and some beverages. Have a toaster so boys can make their own toast if they want.

I'm surprised charcuterie board lady hasn't shown up to suggest her namesake.

It isn’t about how much you burn. It’s about the fact white carbs + sugar alone is a straight up blood sugar spike. Notice I said you would FEEL TERRIBLE, not GET FAT.

if you dont mind cooking, make a Puffed Pancake or Dutch Baby in a giant pan. Feeds them all at once and is mostly egg. Serve with fresh fruit.

PP do you know any teenage boys. I am generally team protein of course but teenage boys could 100% take this down and feel absolutely fine. They just need calories. And LOL to the poster suggesting lox, OP doesn't need to spend $100 on enough lox to fill up teen boys when a box of bisquick could churn out 25 pancakes instead for $10.

Why would DCUM scoff at that? Make a filling egg strata ahead of time and bake it in the AM. My boy and his cousins definitely eat that without complaining.

it depends on the boys.

my husband and his football/track/rugby friends: you would need 2-4 breakfast sandwiches (with 1-2 eggs each plus bacon or sausage and cheese) and fruit and milk/juice plus some donuts

Just scramble a big bunch of eggs. Fruit. Cereal. English muffins or toast. Done. And not all empty carbs like a pile of pancakes. Add a breakfast sausage or bacon if you feel like it.

I think the bacon and sausage suggestions are a little pointless and will make your kitchen smelly for no reason. A good egg and cheese sandwich on a good English muffin or good toast is nearly as good, if not sometimes better than an egg, cheese and bacon or sausage sandwich. And even good bread is probably not needed, as teen kids don't appreciate good bread and usually prefer cheap grocery store soft ("wheat") bread.
