I absolutely believe this. I usually get HUNGRY and by that I mean physically ill--nausea, weak, stomach cramps. I have started to black out in my kitchen because I went too long without food, and it really doesn't take all that long for this to happen. I don't know anyone else who gets like this as often as I do. I am not hypoglycemic. The only reason I can think of for this to happen is that I have a very muscular body type and when I gain weight, I tend to pack on muscle rather than get fat, so I think my body is just constantly burning through energy.

+2 My DH often forgets to eat and I would never do that. |
I have a 10 yo who has never in her life expressed that she was hungry. She will pass up any food that isn't preferred and refuse to eat. This has been true ever since she ever was. You bring in a pizza at dinner time? She doesn't like pizza and wouldn't eat a bite. She will not eat for days unless you offer her something she likes. She truly doesn't seem to understand when you ask if she's hungry.
She gets terribly hangry because she doesn't feel hungry and eat to fuel her body like a normal person. We feed her on a schedule to keep her from exploding in anger all. the. time. My mom and sister are the same way. They are never hungry. They only eat when offered a food they really like. |
Sorry, but no Hunger is driven by hormones, you cannot really train your hormones, they are going to do what they're going to do. You can adjust hormonal response with diet/medication, but it's not the same thing as training your body. |
One of my children is this way and two aren’t. It really opened my eyes to the reality around different hunger experiences. And also showed me it’s not necessarily “eating your feelings” or being told by your parents you have to clean your plate or similar issues like I assumed before having kids. |
Yes. I am hungry at intervals (basically mealtimes + snack) regardless of how big my last meal was. I get hangry if I dont eat. But, a small amount at that interval can often be enough. I dont like huge meals.
DH is like a boa constrictor, he fasts a long time and enjoys huge but infrequent meals. |
I had a college friend like this. He would basically eat one enormous meal per day. Like $15 off the Taco Bell dollar menu in the early 90s. |
