No dear, there aren’t. |
Yes,dear, they are. They tend to be congregated in certain cities and areas. |
There are prejudiced people everywhere, along with those who think an accent is a reflection of intelligence |

I was born and raised in Richmond (with a Virginian mother and North Carolinian father) and speak with an accent. So do my parents and my siblings, and many of my childhood friends. And I grew up in 23229.
Cantor doesn't have much of an accent IMO, I can't even hear it, if you're talking about this interview: https://youtu.be/ZVBkxjen1wM People are big snobs, judging others by their accents and using pejorative terms against someone for where they were born or where they grew up. |
+1. Pp is clueless and doubling down on her ignorance. |
Relatives in Richmond had their daughter's attend cottilion - can't think of much else that Screams southern |
There is cotillion here in the DMV. |
Well that’s odd. I know plenty of Jews from Georgia who absolutely sound southern. Why wouldn’t they? |
Not from Richmond, but same. This entire thread is one big eye roll. |
| The ignorance of DCUM women often confounds me. |
Even small towns in the South will have Jewish families. Their ancestors were usually merchants (and they often still are). |
I remember in Savannah there was a synagogue that had shirts saying “shalom y’all”. |
I’m from Macon and of course there are Jewish people in the south. And yes they sound southern. This whole post is beyond weird, like OP can’t believe Jews who don’t fit her narrow stereotype actually exist. |
Are we supposed to recognize this? |
My relatives in San Diego had their daughters attend cotillion as well |
