Increasingly it should be no. If you get paid a salary, $0 tip for you. |
Why? You get paid a salary to deliver. Why should you get a tip? Doctors perform a service, you gonna tip them too just for doing their jobs? |
Yes, following this logic, tips are actually propping up a larger number of restaurants than should exist and some should close until equilibrium is achieved. No tipping on take out. |
When I was a hostess, preparing takeout was my job. No one tipped me, and I didn’t need to be tipped. I was paid minimum wage. |
| I tip 5%, once i find out if the tip goes to the worker, not the owner/boss. |
+1 This is me too. I tip 20-25% when dining in. I tip the pizza delivery person. I do not tip at Subway, McDonald's, Cava, Baja Fresh, etc. I also do not tip the Amazon/UPS delivery person. |

Ha! My new favorite tip screen I received was at Sweet Frog over the weekend. The worker looked annoyed that I quickly selected NO TIP, but come the F on!
*I* walk in and select my cup size. *I* pull the handle to fill my cup. *I* add any toppings I want myself. *I* place my cup on the digital scale. *I* type in my rewards phone number. I do all the work there and you think you should be tipped? |
| Yeah, no tipping for the touch screen stuff. I did do it though about the first year after the pandemic, mainly out of guilt and feeling like I was supposed to do this. I’ve been doing no tip every time now and I’m okay with it. These places aren’t serving me and getting paid minimum wage. |
| I mean they are getting minimum wage. The purpose in tipping was to pay employees who are making less than that. When I served tables and did bartending in my early 20s, I expected tips and I still tip well for these jobs but not counter service. |
| No tip, and boycott places that force you to explicitly choose. |
How generous |
| The iPad flipped around at Zava Zone and asked if I wanted to tip. Sheesh. |
That’s really annoying. Definitely no tip if I don’t have to risk someone messing with my food at these places. |
| I just ordered $25 of chinese takeout and added $5 to the tip for the driver. Someone's bringing me dinner, it's a luxury. |
They’re doing their job. Ordering from Amazon is a luxury. You tip the Amazon driver too? |
