Asians are even less desirable than whites for diversity purposes.

My kids are in orchestra and band, and both concerts were this week. It is a very diverse school in terms of Indian, Asian, white. Far fewer Hispanic and Black from my observations at the events.

All the Hispanic kids live in the trailer park neighborhood off route 50 that Kathy Smith only let into Poplar Tree for one year.

I call troll.

And your explanation for "NP but we didn't look at Poplar Tree because it's too white. There are better, more diverse schools elsewhere in Chantilly." is?

Sounded to me like it came from the same person who said it was "too white."

Nah, I'm the "less desirable" poster from the "less desirable" community and being snarky about Poplar Tree Is Too White lady, who I suspect of being entirely serious with her comments.

Yes. She rezoned The Meadows of Chantilly, which is a mobile home community with predominately Hispanic residents, to a different school to get those students out of Poplar Tree.

Don't they all end up at the same high school though? What's the point of rezoning?

No. It goes to a different high school from Poplar Tree. She zoned them there initially to get All day K for Poplar Tree. Once everyone had All Day K she moved them out.

No. Poplar Tree ES mostly goes to Chantilly HS. The students who got rezoned now go to Westfield HS.

Oh wow, that sounds horrible and makes me really sad. I grew up in the Meadows and attended Chantilly HS. Didn't know things were rezoned but then again Westfields wasn't built till my senior year of HS. Everyone deserves a good education.

Does anybody here even know where the meadows is??? Its close the county boundary. Its nowhere near Poplar Tree. Its closer to virginia run es(which its zoned for) and cub run es(which serves the area between the meadows and poplar tree) This neighborhood is nowhere near the westfield chantilly boundary. Look at a map people.

Right, so why would she add them to her school's boundary in the first place?

It's not much closer to Cub Run, Deer Park, London Towne or Va Run compared to Poplar Tree. No reason to change the boundary one year later other than racism & greed.

Because the income was lower with sending the poorer kids to Poplar Tree, it enabled Poplar Tree to get All Day Kindergarten. Then, the next year when everyone get All Day K, she sent them to Virginia Run.

Political decision by Smith.

I think this was back in 2013/2014. PTES more recently became an AAP center school.

So ONE school board member has the authority to move boundaries this specifically, twice in 2 years?

I’m skeptical.
