Is it 20 teens plus those teens’ parents, or 20 people some of whom are teens and some of whom are adults? Those are pretty different group sizes, I read it as the latter. If it’s 20 people total with varied then I think you have more options. I might do sandwich fixings, and a few types of salads. Maybe green salad, pasta or potato salad, and fruit salad. |
Agree- I just posted how I make it for my family of 4 - size up for a crowd! |
I would make a bunch of vegetarian ziti and also have sausage on the side plus salad |
Pulled pork or pork chicken in the crock pot, with a few a side dishes will tide people over as burgers and hot dogs are on the grill. You can serve it with little slider rolls so people will still want the burgers and dogs. This works with things like pasta salad, watermelon, fruit skewers, corn on the cob. If you have a big veggie tray and some vegetarian or vegan burgers (cook those on the grill first with no other items) then that will work for vegetarians. |
Meatballs in sauce, or roasted sausages with peppers and onions, with nice rolls to make your own sandwiches, with salad on the side
Chili with toppings Lots of grilled or roasted chicken thighs, like the Ottolenghi recipe with fennel; this is can be reheated briefly in the oven and does not need to be piping hot; sides of rice, roasted carrot salad with red onions and olives (can be room temp); can also do gazpacho to start Several homemade chicken pot pies, serve with charred string beans on the side (room temp), simple caprese or tomato/peach/red onion salad |
Can you do moby Dick family platters? |
KFC? |
Agree with grilling. If that isn’t an option, I’d do either sloppy joes or pork BBQ that you can put in the crockpot. Make a big bowl of macaroni salad (or a Big Mac n cheese), maybe some corn on the cob. Have some fun toppings — various pickles, peppers, hot sauce, etc for people to put on their sandwiches.
And something fun for dessert like ice cream sundaes. |
Just coming to post this! Check out Moby Dick! |
Fajita bar! |
+1 This is the way. You can either order from Honeybaked or you can just buy a ham at your local grocery, just be sure to get one that is already cooked and all you have to do is warm and serve. Get salads from the deli, bake-and-serve rolls, and you are good to go. |
