The price you pay for college

Make sure your child does something somewhat unique (or pointy) that they can write about.

The world will be different in 10 years. Don’t get your child so fixated on one unattainable school, they are many, many great schools.

Familiarize yourself with common data sets, the vast majority of schools post them on their websites. Full of useful information about both the stats of accepted students, the criteria they use, and how much merit aid they give to how many students.

True, limited options in MD but UMD tuition is very affordable.

UMass, Ohio State, Michigan State all offer good merit. Case Western and American University offer good merit. Oberlin too.
