I watched a YouTube video of musicians that used the same chord progression, but none of those songs except for Sheeran’s sound like the Marvin Gaye song. I think the verdict will be guilty depending on the demographic of the jurors. |
| Guilty? It’s not a criminal trial. |
| He is guilty, he slowed down the beat and recorded over it. This guy is constantly in the courts for his musical theft. |
|
I don't know anything about chord progressions, but I don't want to live in a world where this is considered theft. When I listen to each song, I get two completely different experiences.
It's interesting that the fashion/design industry can rip off designs left and right, but the music industry is arguing about these smaller details, even when the end product is completely different. |
| Verdict is in, jury says Sheehan didn’t copy Gaye. |

No, he’s the target of frivolous lawsuits. |
Good -- the charge was BS |
| Not guilty: duh |
| Wow he looks sexy there |
| That ginger always stealing music. Lock him up! |
| This is a pretty funny demonstration of re-using chord progression. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRwCxkN9/ |
