In Lisbon, we stayed by the castle - I wouldn't recommend our Airbnb but the location was pretty great.
I also recommend cascais! I booked our apartment through booking.com and often find better options in Europe through it. I stayed in the Alfama district in Lisbon and I loved it. I am a big fan of apartments with balconies. I agree with others, you are very late to the booking game so you might have to be more flexible with what you find.
Porto, the neighborhood wasn't the best just because it was near a busy center but the apartment was incredible and absolutely gorgeous!! The view couldn't be beat and the host was lovely!!

I just copied the link above for our apartment but I also recommend just staying within 20 min walk of the river, preferably to get to the town "across the river from porto" which I like better - the riverfront. Both are very hilly so be prepared with shoes that have good traction and are comfortable! My kids slip-on old navy flats (Little boy shoes) were NOT good on their slick cobblestones, they wore their keens the WHOLE time.
