The Harvard Westlake data would put the acceptance rate unhooked in this GPA range at 50+%.

F*** this process. Been horrific for us, Bunch of safeties. Remaining readouts seem unlikely

This is mediocre for CAS.
No surprise.

you have no idea what you are talking about.

+1. We know kids who got in with a lot lower stats ED.

ED clearly mattered alot here at NYU. We know some mid-stats kids who got in ED

Look at the median SAT at NYU this year. Obviously the ones who submit are higher scoring.

1540 - gah!

NYU today released offers of admission to the Class of 2027. Offers of admission to NYU’s New York campus were made to 8% of applicants—a record. Three of NYU’s undergraduate colleges offered admission to fewer than 5% of applicants.

These talented and diverse students were selected from [nearly 120,000 applications for first-year admission (13% more than last year and another record-setting number of applications). The admitted class represents a median SAT score of 1540.

They are correct.

Correct what? That an unweighted 3.8 at a Big 3 is mediocre? dude. you are clueless.

It is not competitive for NYU RD. You are the one who is clueless.

And no one outside of the DMV cares about, or is impressed by, the “Big 3.”

DC's friend got into NYU Shanghai. Anyone know anything about it? (I know the obvious stuff.). What is the reputation like? Same as NYU? The friend is super excited so we are happy for them!

I believe that NYU is the second or third largest school for GDS (for example) last 3 years. So we’re saying NYU doesn’t know GDS and their grading, lack of AP courses.

I have no dog in this hunt. Just curious how this works

I would take this with a grain of salt till you hear how many were admitted TO. I am not saying this with any jealousy, my kid was TO.

It's actually significant.
If your daughter applied to Stern, she wants to get in McIntire at UVA.
You need to apply to it tha starts in 3rd year.
Acceptance rate is 50-60%.
Another layer of risk and added stress for almost two years.

That’s what Econ is for. The employment outcomes from UVA are just fine.

Sure but NYU Stern to UVA Econ is a significant step down.

But not NYU Stern to UVA McIntire? Not being snarky, I'm seriously asking because my dc also got rejected from Stern and will be attending UVA. But wondering if it might be worth it to transfer.

Yes I would say UVA McIntire is almost as prestigious as Stern. In fact. Stern is top in finance but not much for consulting.
McIntire is also very strong for consulting and more well-rounded. What you can do it to attend UVA, and apply to McIntire in the 2nd year, and also to Stern.
If it doesn't work out, do Econ in Art & Science and I would add something like minor in data science which would make it more competitive and versatile.
My nephew wasn't particularly interested in finance, so got in CAS and planning to major in Econ and minor in data science.

Many business program is like UVA that you have to apply again to the program. Some are easier like Emory which is close to 80% success.
My kid was looking for a business program and wanted direct admit, so UVA went to bottom of the list.
