Commuting from MoCo to NVA (for private school)

And they had kids able and willing to drive it themselves the last 2 years of high school. The distance and time is taxing. That said....a special needs school is probably the only time I think I'd tough it out and do it anyway.

OP if you do find 1-2 families who will also be commuting could you get together and hire a drive for the afternoons?

Is this sarcastic? What is more meaningful than changing the entire trajectory of your child's life?

More meaningful than the right environment and academic fit for a special needs kid? Seems like that would actually be the most meaningful thing they could put their time and effort into.

Guessing HGS. Great school with a wonderful head of school.

Still, you are going to hate your life. Minimum 45 minutes each way = 3 hours a day in the car for mom or dad. Reality is at least one direction, possibly 2 will take 90+ minutes, so more like 4 hours.

Is this your only child? Can you rent out your house for a few years and find a rental near the school? Would you be comfortable with her driving herself once she has a license (I certainly wouldn’t, but you may have a higher tolerance than I do!) Can you find office space near the school to work remotely during the school day so you only have to go there and back instead of doing it twice?

You are going to burn out. I make that drive once a week and am looking for a new job that doesn’t require it because it’s that miserable, and I don’t have to do it twice a day every day.

We are talking about next year and they’re rolling admissions

BASIS Independent McLean?
They had bus from Potomac MD to the school before Covid.
