Sidwell Question

Are there a lot of people not renewing their contracts in May?

In our grade (Pre-covid acceptance) our DC came off the waitlist with advocacy from middle school Head of School but no Sidwell connections. We know of at least 5 other kids in the grade who also came in off waitlist so at least anecdotally seems like waitlist movement can be sizeable.

No, it’s not current families not renewing, it’s new families who put down a deposit but withdraw when another option worked out or they decided on a different course.

I've seen this happen for magnets or siblings getting off the waitlist somewhere else so they can keep the family together.

Absolutely, but you should always have a back up that you can live with and ideally, feel good about. This may be a good lesson for OP when it comes to college apps.

It’s cases where families’ financial circumstances change, they move, or a child gets into another school off the waitlist where they have a sibling.
