How does DC lottery really work...any inside info?

Funny business with schools is likely to occur *outside of* the lottery, sometimes when it should be conducted through the lottery, but that's not the same thing as the actual lottery being rigged.

In fact, I can't think of a single city-run program that is as on-the-level as the lottery.

The Fort Totten Transfer Station is really excellent.

Yes! If only all city programs were as well run as My School DC and the Ft. Totten Transfer Station, we'd be in a much better place. The lottery website explains everything, and some of us will remember that the Chancellor went down trying to do things OUTSIDE of the lottery. This is a major change from how things used to go pre-lottery system and pre-accountability.

Oh you mean the Transfer Station that has been shut down for a year to residential services? And this is the second shutdown in probably 2 years? I'm a fan of the DC Lottery, but would not compare it to the Transfer Station.

Yes, I wish it were open, but when it was open it was really awesome.

Except that it was like pulling teeth to get any information about what to expect. Yes, you show up with a load of trash, they take it cheerfully. But good luck finding the operating hours. When they had to close due to the fire and shifted over to Benning Road the press release they sent out was indecipherable.

Yes, the My School DC team should take offense to this comparison. My kid was in the lottery when COVID hit and the 2020 results for 20-21 still came out seamlessly.

They had three year vacation on your dime. I'd be ecstatic.
