Do you know anyone who went Q?

Anonymous
Yes, a family member. It's really sad. He totally believes so much nonsense and gets mad if I point out how impossible, or absurd some of these things are.
Anonymous
Yes. A few family members who have always been R / conservative, not educated past high school.

My son's best friend's mother and that boy's MIL omg educated Federal contractors both of them. One worked for National Security projects she's a nutcase cult member. Went to jan 6th. They both post on FB like crazy. Both Graduates of Georgetown super bright women. On has her own website on "election lies" Like I said nuts both of them. Not living in reality at all.

All of them go to the same Church in Potomac which is scary.

And it is not evangelical it is Catholic.

The one on falls road with a school attached?

Unfortunately yes.

Ugh, makes me so sad. Most of these people of course were conservative to begin with. But still they have all joined Q do not live in reality... One of the Fed contractors on her website has all her Jan 6th escapaes and it's horrific. Yes reported to FBI.

She should be fired and not allowed to work for the government.

Why was she not prosecuted like so many other insurrectionists?

Have wondered about that church as the building reminds me of one I attended as a kid.

The irony of for Catholics going full Q after the anti vax stuff - The Pope issued a strong statement pretty early on advising the faithful that they should get vaccinated as a matter of being pro life and saving vulnerable people Close to them from illness and death.

Yeh but the Conservative Catholics are all Pope JP2. Our neighborhood church doesn’t even appear to recognize Francis. It’s embarrassing.

I had a Catholic co worker, secular elite boarding school, Georgetown grad and mba also go in this direction. She was smart and accomplished. I did not know her outside of work. She was v conservative but then added in the anti vax Conspiracy stuff and anti Muslim sentiments. I began to wonder if she had early dementia.

Two frimer republican friends and one relative went Q; not very educated and from my home town, they already believed some our there stuff, so it was less surprising. They are the types that would fall for the "perverts operating in a pizza restaurant" type of scam.

Are you referring to St Raphael’s or another one?

I know 2 people who’ve fallen for that madness. One is my mother. She has a personality disorder. She is not educated. She stared with the conspiracy stuff when Obama was in office. The other is a friend I’ve had since I was a child. He’s a smart guy, and I don’t know what happened. Oddly enough, my ex-BIL was into all sorts of conspiracies. When Q came along, he realized it was nuts. He said he doesn’t like being associated with those crazies. He’s still anti-vax, but that’s about as far as it goes.

No. We know the difference.

DP.

It seems like many of the responders are super paranoid about some minuscule fringe group out there.

It’s like some of the moms I know, who are terrified a cult will kidnap their daughter when she goes off to college.

She started going to Trump rallies, posting crazy stuff on social media, was completely convinced about the pedo ring, Biden stole the election, you name it. She also was at the January 6th march but I don’t know if she went inside the Capital. She’s cut ties with everyone who used to know her that doesn’t share her craziness. It’s very sad.

Where is Epstein’s list? I think if they released the names, people would be less, um, paranoid?

I see it differently. It’s pretty obvious, for instance, the vaccines are not doing the job people were told they’d do, and that they have affected the menstrual systems and caused damage in young males (especially), and that people were lied to about both those things. That’s been documented in the Pfizer papers. People who believed full-on (i.e. didn’t have a healthy dose of skepticism) now feel kind of foolish, so the mind finds a way to protect itself, and part of that is the absolute arrogance you see in this thread.

Not that “fringe” if many people have a family member or coworker sucked into it.

What does Epstein have to do with this?

Epstein’s underage girls and the people on the list who took advantage of them. All the women who came forward about Weinstein. All the child actors, now adult, coming forward about pedophilia in the industry. I don’t think pedophilia on the left is a Q fantasy.

When I was a kid the conspiracy theorists were all on the left. Trump has flipped then entire political spectrum. Now it’s the right that is anti war, anti big pharma, pro blue collar. When you add it to the existing anti-taxes and pro Christian .. it is a real growth angle for the cause.

In 2020, during covid, I was flipping through shortwave to see if there was any news I could pick up (didn't realize BBC World Service wasn't a thing anymore and most everyone was Internet-based). The only thing I found was weird. Someone was broadcasting on shortwave about secret government facilities with stacks of bodies. At first I thought it was an Orson Wells-type thing like a show. It was clear the guy was reading from a script and trying to act out emotion (from the artificial pauses, etc. to sound broken up about it). But I could see where people who were scared because of covid might think it was real?
