Superficial way you judge people as rich ?

How generously they tip.

Usually the wealthy tip less.

- google their home value on zillow (yes I'm nosy)
- do some back of the envelope calculations (i.e. high end travel, private schools, elite activities, estimated job salaries, anecdotes of their lives growing up/generational wealth)

-of course these calculations miss the millionaires next door and those who aren't "spendy."

I automatically assume someone is broke AF when I see them with:

Long fake nails
Michael Kors, Coach, Louis Vuitton branded anything
Fake hair
Pump heels
Showing their belly button in public

That’s because of the cultural bubble you grew up in. Many of these things are typical of wealthy people just not in your WASP culture.

They look trashy.

Casually deciding to send kids to private school without ever considering public even though they live in a "good" school district.

Very simple test.

If their phone does not have a case, they are rich.

Hair maintenance. It’s expensive to maintain nice hair.

That said I’ve seen all kinds of rich people at this point in my life. Thanks to America’s class mobility, all kinds of people can and do become rich. American rich can be very hard to pick out.

Not really.

In many cultures being thin is considered poor - no food to eat.
Sporting an an ample, well fed belly and a double chin means
you are from the leisurely class.

Not in any culture nowadays. Maybe like 100 years ago. With all the cheap junk food around, easy to get fat.

I do now, sick of this excessive tipping culture. Hello? You are being paid 15+ per hour for a "starter" job (translation, something you do before you grow up) and you flip that screen for a twenty percent? Hello no, enough! I and many others are backing away from tipping, don't need to prove anything to anyone.

No body worth their dollar would dress like Bill Gates, no body.
