When was the oldest person you've known born?

My grandad was born in 1885 and lived til a was a small child in the 1960s. His father lived with him when my dad was young, and so my dad grew with him -and he had been a slaveowner. Some of the past is not so very far away as people like to pretend it is.

My great grandfather is the oldest person I’ve ever known..born 1902 and died 2001 at 99. My grandmother, his daughter, just turned 98.
