Why is Uvm much more popular than unh, umass, uri, uconn, or umaine?

Univ of Delaware is the new Pitt.

Yes, being ranked #67 versus #121 matters. It certainly holds more weight than someone just randomly claiming on DCUM that UVM is a better school than UConn and UMass with nothing to support that claim.

UVM is not a public university-it is part public and part private.

Is it in a city? Then no. Newark, DE ain’t Newark, NJ. And that’s not saying much.

Supposedly, the students are very good dressers? Ended up getting a ton of aid, flying up and visiting. The re-sell event in March was super crowded. Chose a SLAC instead. It was also one of those EA schools where you find out before Christmas, so it was nice to have that in hand for the holidays.

This. It’s just another example of a marketing strategy that worked.

I agree re UNH and have never understood that other than yes the Burlington piece which is pretty significant.

You’d be wrong

It is the new Pitt in that it is the semi-close state school everyone is applying to in the hope of getting a ton of merit aid. A bit gritty, and an acceptable if not prestigious name.

I might be simply that it's the most expensive for oos people. Some think the higher the price, the better the product. That said, it's a really winter school. I went to UConn and UVM was much, much colder and had lots more snow. UConn almost killed me. I ended up there for a free ride but it was cold.

There is no more "away" than Storrs. Can't be.

DP but they meant away in a good way. As opposed to Storrs.

Show me that there are markedly better outcomes from attending UConn or UMass than UVM. This would hold more weight than someone just randomly claiming on DCUM that USNWR rankings over 50 matter with nothing to support that claim.

The University of Vermont is popular primarily because of its location--which is outstanding & gorgeous. Burlington is on the shores of Lake Champlain and the mountains are nearby.

Good academics & great quality of life & lots of parties.

University of Colorado at Boulder is an overlap school.

How about instead, you show us the better outcomes from UVM?
I’m sure in your marketing job in UVM admissions, you must have all that data?

Depends on the major. UMass has a few world class grad programs; none of the others do, except UConn (though even fewer). For individual students interested in studying those fields, even at the undergraduate level, outcomes may indeed matter. Otherwise, I agree that the difference between #67 and #121 does not really matter.

Someone asked why it is called UVM vs UVT. UVM is Latin for university of the green mountains. Universitas Verdes Montis. Ancient school, founded in 1700s. Town of Burlington probably best college town in north east.
