Like we can send you to any old city but it will lack the fun stuff you want because you’re a tourist who wants tourist activities. That being said, Ann Arbor would be nice if it wasn’t in the pits of winter. Try Sarasota or Albuquerque.

Eating, drinking, walking, and some history doesn’t seem touristy. Even the tiny hick town I grew up in PA had those things.

Ok then name your walkable hick town with history and yummy restaurants and OP can consider it.

We stopped in Macon, Georgia, pretty randomly for two days a couple of years ago - we ate well, and enjoyed ourselves, went to see the Allman Brothers house. Def off the beaten track!

Stayed at a really cool little Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/26390717?adults=2&children=0&infants=0&pets=0&check_in=2023-01-14&check_out=2023-01-19&source_impression_id=p3_1671199240_htixsHCI%2FubIoPWo

Denver. Great food and drinks, great coffee shops, Gold Rush era history, the MeowWolf exhibit is beyond quirky, and the graffiti walk in the RiNo art district is amazing.

My mom and I spent a weekend in Roanoke last spring. Wandered around Black Dog salvage and a bunch of other dusty antique malls, stayed in a great airbnb in a very non-touristy, artsy, crunchy area of town. There was also an artists studio tour that weekend that was lovely.

I also agree with the Pittsburgh suggestions. If you are into shopping there is also the anthropologie home outlet.

Memphis? Like Nashville but smaller?

Stay in the peabody hotel (with the ducks), tour graceland, fun museums, serious museums, sun records, etc.

Fort Worth, Texas

Great cultural district with world class museums. Warm-ish weather for Feb/March.

Cowboys and honky tonks if you want something a little rowdy.

Savannah for sure. Super quirky town go and live more like a local go to the local coffee shop local pub etc. instead of doing the touristy things you will need tons of quirky people that will be your best friends by the time you leave the bar.

Somewhere in the southwest. Half of these suggestions would be awful in winter

Palm Springs CA is touristy but interesting and less trafficked by east coasters

Savannah is definitely quirky. Agree to avoid the touristy things.

You could go to Martha’s Vineyard. It is a gem, not touristy in March and there is enough open that you can find things to do. The weather is generally more moderate than the mainland.

The Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon VA.

If not in winter, Rapid City SD or Duluth MN
