My child is very smart but doesn't do many extras, would this be a good reason to ephasize tests?

Why do extras matter anywat?

My kid is in school seven hours a day. Add in an hour or more of homework and you have the equivalent of a full workday for an adult.

If my kid is smart enough for a college, why should my kid be asked to do any more than that, if sports and clubs don't interest them? She's more interested in using her free time to relax and hang out with her family, rather than adding more structured events to her life.
