You do not go to Manly Beach if you are "hiding" a relationship from photographers. It's literally the most crowded beach. It'd be like Kim Kardashian making out with someone at the Santa Monica pier and being "shocked" the photos leaked.

I think they probably are already separated, and this isn’t a secretive affair, but that they’re dating during the separation. Now whether they were together before the separation or not is anyone’s guess. But the timing of the announcement seems much more like ‘cats out of the bag’ and a need to acknowledge what’s going on, than that the actual divorce is in response to the photos.

This is in Australia, where people almost certainly are tracking, or find it newsworthy, to trail and photo Collette's husband. It's a way smaller fishbowl and will be huge news there.

Identity of the Other Woman and her age may not have been known/confirmed when the story initially went to press. I thought she was mid 30s based on the photos. She looks younger than 41.

And Toni Collette looks older than 50; I thought she was at least 55-57. I didn’t know anything about her kids before this story broke.

An Australian on Reddit mentioned that you have to be separated for 365 days before you can file for divorce in Australia.

They’ve likely been separated for a while if Collette is saying they are filing for divorce.

I’m thinking her STBX + his girlfriend just got shivved by Colette’s PR team.

That's awful. That he cheated, that she found out that way (even if she got a heads up about the photos ahead of time, I just can't imagine being informed of that kind of betrayal by the press or your agent or whoever handled it).

Good for her for filing now. I have very low tolerance for cheating in a marriage where there are kids. I know people are human and all that, and in a marriage without children I can see there being room for forgiveness. But when people with minor children cheat, they are hurting their kids, too. Once you have a family unit, your obligations are greater and there are more people to let down.

Anyway, she's an amazing actor and I'm sorry she'll probably wind up having to pay that cheating loser support for years but it will be worth it because now she can be her awesome self elsewhere. I hope their kids come through it okay.

Well this just means he's either very dumb or he did it on purpose knowing there was a good chance they'd be photographed. Either way, not a good look for him.

Eh, "filing for divorce" could mean nothing more than filing for separation. People use the term "divorcing" all the time when they're only at the start of the process, whatever it is wherever they are.

He's scum who surely knew he was in a place where there would be paps who would take photos his KIDS would likely end up having thrust in front of them eventually.

You missed that the PP said "having an affair ON a famous person," meaning, being the spouse of the famous person and cheating on them. Not the same as having an affair WITH a famous person.
