What to send sister and her family for Xmas? Says no to everything offered.

Thanks - OP here, we did not exchange gifts last year since our mother was quite ill and passed shortly after Christmas. We do not live in the same area and she told me she was sending a box of holiday snacks, which is perfect. I feel like any suggestion I make is met with a no thanks, or we won't eat that. I have decided to send them a gift card to a local restaurant. Problem solved!

Maybe in the new year you can can have a discussion and decide to stop the gift exchange.

I love these and send frequently. People always eat fruit.

She will be salty if I send nothing.

Are you sure about that? I really wish I could stop the gift exchanges, but they keep sending me stuff even if I say I don't need anything.

Thank you, but I don’t eat anything that has even a passing acquaintance with sugar, thank you, but I already have plenty of gloves, thank you, but I don’t really care for plants, flowers, etc.

I just stopped sending her things. Although, near the end, my spouse and I would try to guess ahead of time what she would find to criticize about this year’s gift, haha. Difficult people are just going to be difficult, no matter how hard you try.

I guess the other way to go with this is just to send increasingly outrageous gifts-thank you but I don't need naked man shot glasses, a subscription to High Times, a 12 months of Donald Trump in a bathing suit calendar.

Do you know where I can purchase this? I have just the person to send this to.

Haha, I love this! I wish I had thought of some of these at the time.

She'll be salty if you don't do anything? Sounds like she's salty when you do send something and can't bother to give you any ideas. It's a no-win situation. Donate your $ to an organization that will appreciate it.

What's weird is she will be salty if you send nothing.

If she doesn't want food gifts, and age doesn't want stuff, that only leaves gift cards. And if the young adults don't live with them all year long, you might want to get separate gift cards for them.

This was about the time we stopped exchanging gifts with siblings, when it got down to only gift cards.

Who knew that giving gifts to people was about “winning”?

In this case, I think "win" means sending the sister something that she enjoys.

Sister has made it clear she does not enjoy “stuff” or food. So what she would enjoy is to get off the gift train. Why is this so hard for some people to grasp?

Why is it “difficult” to not want MORE STUFF? We all have too much stuff and too much food. STOP with the incessant gifts if the recipient clearly does not want them! Ugh, you are like my MIL who gets me ridiculous crap like bedazzled nail files. FFS. STOP.
