that's just what they say to anyone who they view as a threat to the establishment. And yes, asking questions and requesting information is a threat. They don't have actual arguments so they throw around the racist and white supremacist tags so much that it's a joke. The irony is that many of the people and groups who do this (PTAC, Wilson's "mom mafia" come immediately to mind) exploit a systemically racist school system to benefit their kids. I've come to believe that's why they protect this broken system. They benefit from it. After what I've watched over the years...it's the logical conclusion. When something is so broken but people fight changing it...they are benefiting in some way. |
Parents have a problem with a rape cover up at Minnie Howard. Why would they show up because of a fight? |
Correction: ACPS parents didn't have a problem with a rape cover up |
Because she was Hispnac. Underneath it all, the rich white moms are racist af. I can promise you that if the girl raped had been fom Rosemont, the national guard would have been called in. |
Don't forget Beverley Hills, North Ridge etc. They sure cared when ACPS was going to put adult housing at GM. But a gang rape in a school bathroom? That's fine. Since ACPS is discussing/planning to turn George Mason into another middle school I'm sure all the NIMBYs will get super organized again with PTA meetings with the super, the board and the mayor while ignoring rapes, gangs, murders and brutal fights. |
My kids are in elementary. How do these families benefit? This sounds incredibly toxic. And what is Wilson's mom mafia? Who are these people? |
How do these families benefit from other students being raped or fighting? How do these moms and their students benefit from being in an environment of violence? |
What makes me cringe is when I hear a parent say "well my child isn't impacted or affected by it" or "my child never sees this" "my child says it's just another fight". I went to an urban public school. Guess how many fights in my four years of HS? One. One fight. And it was stupid too. |
Same. Back then these brawls only happened in 80s movies where the thug principal had to clear out all the trouble in school. |
Absolutely accurate! The reason there is no apparent outcry from parents is that white parents believe that these are issues that won’t touch their kids bc they are white and they don’t associate with “those kind of kids” When non white parents complain they are placated and even when they do speak up people say oh that’s terrible and yet do nothing But yes as soon as something happens to a white kid the outcry will be massive and changes immediate. Sad but true |
+1 I went to a diverse high school in a large suburb, mostly FARMS, roughly the same white/non-white distribution. We had 2 fights that were big enough to register in my mind. The difference is that we had 2,000 kids max and people who routinely made trouble were moved to the alternative school. |
These comments are absolutely, rediculous, hateful and false. Every parent I know is angry about what happened. Why wouldn't they be? The city and high school covered it up. There was outcry. The superintendent is now gone. No one wants that to happen to a child. Also I had idea the color of the victims skin. Why does this matter. PP You are just awful. |
Y’all elected to the school board an ACPS lifer who was an administrator at TC as it hit free fall, so don’t be surprised at any of this.
Physician, heal thyself. |
I'm not sure if you're referencing the rape cover up or the recent fight(s) or the murder at Bradlee but there wasn't an outcry. One parent showed up to the school board meeting after the rape cover up was exposed. Zero parents showed up at the school board meeting last week. While I hope parents show up at the next meeting this week, I doubt it. Posting something on social media or tut tutting at pick up isn't an outcry. I don't doubt that people were upset with any of the horrific events because that would make them absolute monsters. But there wasn't an outcry. To date, not a single PTA has even commented on any of this. I do wonder what it will take to get parents to take some sort of action. |
Violence won't. They just went to virtual learning when last school year ended in gang warfare and parents were ok with that. |
