Not in the first week of October. In any case, I am just relaying what they said. |
All students get decision one month after they complete application, so if completed in October, they would have gotten decision last week. Of completed in August or September, would have gotten results in September or October. I am in Baltimore and know four kids accepted and one deferred (all kids in private which is where my kids are). |
| I know 3 kids accepted from our mcps high school- dc says they are all smart and well rounded, each had around 1500 sat/34 act and 3.9 or above although these weren’t the kids taking BC calculus to the above poster’s point about course rigor. |
It's also Covid grading plus general grade inflation. lots and lots of kids have very high GPAs. |
One of the PP that was rejected had a 1520 SAT. This seems to confirm the validity of the high GPA for this particular kid, but he was still rejected. |
Yes in the first week of October. They may have had a bumper year but they always run out of slots very early |
I'm sorry that was her experience. My DD had slightly higher stats and was admitted RD with a nice merit scholarship in '21. Times are changing! |
I hope she is doing well at UCLA. Are you local? I thought perfect grades were not possible at privates? |
| I’ve heard from numerous sources that Wake puts a lot of emphasis on the essays and is looking at them to determine kids who will be a good fit for the school. They definitely are not the usual run of the mill essays. |
+1. When I applied in 1988, on of the prompts was “Describe an expressive silence”. That’s it. The whole prompt. 500 wprds on an expressive silence. 25 years later, it’s the only college essay I remember. |
When I figured out I could apply using the common app a few years after that, I said “screw your ridiculous essay questions!” They sent me a supplemental form after I used common app. They luckily did NOT force me to answer one of their essays. What they did insist upon? A picture. I was accepted and loved my time there, but I still smh at the application experience |
