+1. There will be enough dishes and pots to wash as it is. Don’t forget the paper napkins and festive autumn paper platters. |
| Take out and paper plates with turkeys on them. |
| So where’s the best prepared Thanksgiving dinner? |
| If you had a broken oven, I would be sympathetic, but a dishwasher? Switch to plastic plates and 6 oz clear cups for wine. |
| I would just wash the dishes. But I wash a lot as I cook anyways. I would probably plan “breaks” to wash and dry what is dirty before moving on to the next step. You could definitely get away with nice disposable plates but use real silverware. |
| If you do a meal in a box, make sure you warn people. I’d not be thrilled at a surprise like that. |
We ordered the everything cooked and ready from Carmines -- they include plates if you want. I will tell you Friday how it came out. |
| Prepared is fine and nice paper plates. However, I'd just replace the dishwasher. |
| Why don't you just take everyone out to a Thanksgiving meal at a local restaurant. Your house will be a mess with all the dirty dishes strewn about and the paper plates, bowls, and cups you have used since the dishwasher broke. If you factor in the cost of the paper products, you will probably be breakeven on dinner out. |
I just grabbed a reservation at Ruth Chris while we decide. But frankly, not really feeling the long indoors restaurant meal at this point. |
| I'd just wash the dishes but hand. We've hosted ten people in a kitchen with no dishwasher, that was so small I had to put the turkey on top of the trashcan lid to rest. It was fine. One of my favorite Thanksgivings honestly. |
| Id use real dishes for dinner and wash them. I would use paper for dessert. |
This, which is still a ton IME. |
| Wow, lazy much? |

Buy Bussing trays. Load all dirty dishes in them and put them in the garage. Then when the guests leave, bring one bussing tray inside at a time and wash the dishes by hand. It is really not difficult.
What you do need to do is to make sure that your sink and counter is not full of dirty dishes in the absence of a broken dishwasher. Put them in bussing trays and keep them out of the kitchen. |
