Maybe, but it smells like wet dog. Pass!

My wool doesn't smell like that. You need to get better quality wool.

Kids don’t wear wool for swimming.

I would get them several pairs of sweats instead.

This is so untrue. Mom of four competitive swimmers that live at the pool. Three of my four LOVE their swim parkas. The one who does not wear his is a 16 year old boy who never gets cold and wear shorts year round. Buy the parkas big. They can wear them for years. Some teams have them as part of their outfitting package which is nice.

All the club kids here wear parkas - it starts snowing here in November, so it’s a necessity. I agree, buy them as big as you dare. The kids like them long with sleeves past their hands. My kids are in their third year with their parkas- 10 year old has an adult xs and 13 year old has adult medium. Speedo brand. I think more sports need parkas. I wore my son’s parka during a surprisingly snowy soccer game, and it also kept him nice and warm during halftime. We also have outdoor meets during long course season, and the parkas keep them warm in the chilly mornings.

Swim parkas are the best! They aren't the most fashionable but so practical. I used to wear mine on deck in between events. With all the downtime you can get cold, which makes your muscles tighten up -- not good for fast swimming. They are also great for leaving practice on winter days as PP mentioned.

I am seriously thinking about digging my college parka out of storage at my parents' house. I could really use it for watching my kid's soccer games in late fall/early spring! My mom stole it from me after I graduated, to wear on winter recess duty as a teacher.

Do it! That’s awesome that you were a college swimmer!

OP here - swim parka came yesterday. Bought a Speedo large for my 5'8 145lb son who is pretty thin/not terribly broad in the shoulders and it fits perfectly. I was waffling between a medium and large and so glad I got the large. I think he would be swallowed in the XL. He seems thrilled!

Terrific! My son is 5’5” in an adult medium speedo, so large seems right for your son. I can tell they feel a little badass in their parkas and headphones waiting for their race to start.
