So I'm guessing APS will probably upload them around the same time this year. If I had a crystal ball, I'd pick Friday, Nov 18th.

Smart! That makes sense. Thanks

I was off by a week. Just checked, and DIBELS & Math inventory is up on my PV account.

We get the high level summary, but each assessment has a formal parent score sheet that explains the assessment and gives subscale scores. It seems crazy that they don't give it to parents because they're autogenerated.

It's frustrating that we don't get any explanation, just a number against a benchmark.

What’s the target by grade for the Virginia growth assessment?

This is our first SOL assessment. Any insight into interpreting? What is the vertical scale score?

Ours, too – I found this: https://www.rcps.us/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=10368&dataid=23672&FileName=2022-2023%20Percentiles%20Sept%2022.pdf

Since it’s a statewide test, I’m assuming it’s accurate. My kids scores make sense using this chart.

I feel so dumb asking this but does anyone happen to know what a scaled math score of 1640 means for a fifth grader? It seems high according to that chard but on his test he got a lot of easy and medium level questions wrong so I don't see how that can be considered over the 90th percentile.

Also thank you PP for finding this!

I’m the pp, I thought it looked like my kid got a lot wrong to be in the 90th percentile, too. But even more confusing is that I just realized the math report says 8th grade math cat, but my kid is in 6th grade. So…I just don’t know much of anything.

Ha well thank you for the information and I'm glad I'm not the only one confused!

My child also got a lot of medium difficulty questions wrong in reading and is at the 75th percentile. FWIW their DIBELS is slightly below benchmark. The math score is 150 points beyond the 90th percentile.

Can anyone explain the math inventory? There is no frame of reference for the score beyond a target for the end of the year. How do I tell if the score is average, advanced, etc? I don't understand why more information isn't given... Certainly these tests generate a report of strengths and weaknesses.

They have parent reports that explain all of this. APS just does not give the out. I've gotten my kid's from the teacher for both DIBLES and math inventory, but they don't automatically send them out. It makes no sense.

I’m a little confused too since my kids score is higher than the end of year benchmark but he’s not gifted or anything. Truly gifted kids must have crazy high scores.

This is the score chart directly from the test maker.

The way to understand your child's score (best I can tell from this site and the explanation provided to me by child's teacher) is find the range where your kid is *proficient*.
For example, my kid scored a 1045, which means DC is ready for eighth grade/ algebra math content, according to the test makers. It does not mean dear child is proficient at 8th grade content, it means the test has determined they are ready to handle it.
Here's some background on the test (again from the test makers so always grain of salt with that, but it's at least relatively clear
